NEED HELP IDENTIFYING AN ANTIQUE/VINTAGE TOY CAR I FOUND?
I Found this car metal detecting. I was very dirty and had the original black wheels, but they broke into pieces when my fiance tampered with them.
It is all metal (possibly cast aluminum?)
Can’t find any info on this type of car.
If anyone can answer the following questions, I would be grateful.
make
model
year
who possibly made it? (I think I see writing, but it’s too faded to tell)
what type of medal it looks like
about what year was it made
is it worth anything in this condition
Refer to the following pics
Thank you

Mind you these are just educated guesses as to your car.
Since it was buried and the metal still looks decent I’m going to agree with you that it is most likely aluminum. The axles look to be steel. The car that it is modeled after looks to be some sort of late 30’s model possibly a Bugatti. I wouldn’t think it was made before World War II and I’m thinking late 50’s early 60’s . I think it was made by Tootsie toy which made lots of diecast cars like this in the early 60’s. The solid bottom is puzzling however because I haven’t seen any like that before.
As to the worth of the toy, it would be worth a lot more with the wheels on it. I’m sure replacements are available. Check for toy shows that come through your area. There are usually dealers that restore old toys who can help. The can also assist you with the value.
In the shape it’s in now I would think if would be worth less than ten dollars. Just educated guesses, so actual values may vary.
Good luck and hope this helps

I’m no expert, but I have a couple of questions.
Does a magnet stick to it?
Does it have any markings, embossed kind of things?
Watching Antiques Road Show, these things tend to not have much value unless they are in really good condition.
Put some wheels on it, paint it, and keep it as a nice conversation piece.

Let’s see if I can help. What you found is actually quite vintage. It looks to be an Old Tootsie Toy or Hubley Model Car. The wheels are gone because they were made from a hard, white rubber. They are a bit of a cross between early diecast & cast-iron. I am estimating an early 1950’s model by the looks.
Sad to say, not worth much in given shape, but definetly awesome in the coolness category and a great story to tell.
Hope that helps…
